Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a satisfying game mainly because it does what other games have tried to do and does almost all of it well. It does remind me a great deal of developer Naughty Dog's Evil Dead games. From the back Nathan Drake looks and moves quite a bit like Ash the character from the Evil Dead movies that was played by Bruce Campbell. It also feels quite a bit like Tomb Raider or the old Indiana Jones game on PS2.

Being compared to those cornerstone games puts this title in good company, it's a badge of honor. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is lots of fun. The gameplay is diverse and broken up between exploration, treasure hunting and shooting. This is one that you will want to play and have in your collection for sure.

The game has some of the best renditions of tropical scenery that you will see on the PS3 so far. Everyone enjoys water effects, but this time they really have it right. When Nathan Drake is swimming in a lagoon the water is murky and green. The surfaces are smooth and you'll feel the humidity and swat at the mosquitos because the immersion is that good. Later when he is dealing with fresh water from a waterfall, there are bubbles and splashes that dance up and it never looks the same. The water has more texture and is choppier. When he follows that same stream into a hidden well, you can almost taste the freshness and the earthyness of spring water. Above him on the roof of the cave the water reflects up in ways that I have only seen on real hikes in nature. Usually games use one color and one texture for all the water in the game. Even in Pirates of the Burning Sea for PC which is a loving ode to seafaring the water effects were good, but still not this good.
