1. Tell us about your art background?
What first inspired me to draw was my love for the lil' blue hedgehog, Sonic. Yes, Sega's mascot from the good old days. I was nine years old at the time and have been drawing ever since. When I was in the 8th grade I was enrolled in a computer course where whenever we had free time I would draw on the computer. My teacher noticed and "kicked me out" of her class and into my first real Art class. A few years after that I saw my first anime, "Slayers", and have been a devoted fan of the anime art style.
2. Where do you go to school and has the art program there helped inspire you?
I go to Leesville Road High School. The art program there is all right, but animation still is not considered an art form on the high school level. Most of my inspiration has come from my mom. ^_^ She's inspired me to broaden my horizons and to go after my dream of working in the art field. I often ask for her opinions on my drawings and we spend a lot of time discussing colors and shading. I think her dream is to see me do a children's book.....^_^
3. How long have you been interested in graphics design?
I've only got into graphic design recently as a back-up if I don't make it as an animator. I love to try to portray an idea in pictures. As the saying goes, "One picture is worth a thousand words."^_^
4. How would you describe your style of art?
I would say that my art style has a major anime influence. My favorite type of art is "chibi" art, a style that attempts to make every picture as sickenly cute as possible. Hence, my mom's desire to see my do a children's book ^_^
I prefer 2-D art to 3-D but realize that a future in the gaming industry or animation my involve a change of style.
5. What are your major influences? Any classical artists you can point to as inspirational or influential?
Classical art has not been a major influence in my art. My major influences would have to be the Japanese anime artists. This style seems to be finding it's own niche in American cartooning with the arrival of Pokemon, Digimon, Card Captor, Escaflowne and Gundam Wing.
