Cricket: Thank you Lena for agreeing to speak with WomenGamers.Com.
Lena: Before everything else, let me thank you for your kind attention to my work and me. I am answering your questions with pleasure but also with a slight discomfort because of my English... I do understand it leaves much to be desired.
Cricket: Tell me about you - how did you get involved in game development? (education, background, first computer etc.)
Lena: It started a long while ago :) When I was 12, Dad switched over to another job where they had computers with color displays and 286 processors. In those days such computers were quite fresh in Moscow and on the whole in the USSR. On weekends, I used to visit Dad's office as if it was Disney Land and spent all day long playing computer games.
A year later Dad brought a computer (a black-n-white laptop) home. I started to play at home. There was a BASIC installed on that laptop and somehow I started to learn programming. My first program was an illustrated multiplication table. After I had written it, I decided to become a programmer and to go in for game developing.
